Ashbourne's Elite Cinema has amazing Dolby Atmos surround sound, a bar and a choice of comfy seats including sofas. It is fully wheelchair accessible and seats approx 150 people.
It shows a mixed programme of blockbusters, classics and art films, with a choice of several each week, often 3 screenings per day. There is also a stage that can be used for music events, lectures or plays. See the what's on page for this month's programme.
The building closed as a cinema in 1976 and subsequently became a nightclub which later also closed and the building lay empty for over twenty years. An extensive and expensive refurbishment has brought it back to its former glory, with all modern amenities. It reopened in May 2023.
