World Book Day
Designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, World Book Day is marked in over 100 countries around the globe. In the UK, World Book Day is celebrated on the 1st Thursday in March and is coordinated by the World Book day charity.
Many publishers in the UK produce special books for the event, costing just £1.
Primary schools will often organise special reading events.
