Grace Kelly plays Lisa Fremont, Jeff's socialite girlfriend.The plot revolves around Jeff's increasing suspicion that his neighbor, Lars Thorwald (Raymond Burr), has murdered his wife, Emma Thorwald (Irene Winston). Bored and confined, Jeff starts observing his neighbors through his rear window, developing a voyeuristic interest in their lives. He enlists the help of Lisa and his nurse Stella (Thelma Ritter) to investigate his suspicions.
