Top five Christmas lights displays
Brookside Meadows
These two houses next door to each other have a fabulous display of lights and ornaments and inflatables.
Drive along Park Avenue admiring the many displays on the way. At the bend turn left into Brookside and then right into Okeover Ave, stopping to admire further lights here. Then turn right and then left into Brookside Meadows and follow the road round. There is a turning circle at the end.
Cavendish Drive Rec
The giant Father Christmas inflatable is almost as tall as the house. It will only be there on calm days, so choose your time to visit according to the weather. Even if the inflatable is missing, there is still a magnificent lights display to see.
The rec is at the far end of Cavendish Drive - come in from Derby Road and follow it to the end. The rec area is a cul-de-sac and often crowded with parked cars so you might want to leave your car a bit further away. You can't drive by this house so its best viewed on foot anyway.
Clumber Close
Clumber Close is our favourite for daytime viewing and top five for night as well. The star attraction has a decorated tree, lots of inflatables (calm days only) and toys in the house windows. At night the inflatables, house and tree are all lit and several of the neighbouring houses are also lit.
You can walk here after visiting Lodge Avenue, by using the footpath from Highfield Road and then up Buscott Drive. By car the route is via Premier Avenue down from the roundabout near Hilltop School. If you do come by car, there is usually plenty of space to park and turn round.
Lodge Avenue 1

[photo coming soon] This is our favourite house in Ashbourne for their lights display, which gets bigger and brighter every year. The garden is full and the house is covered. Its worth a look over the fence during daytime but really this house is best seen after dark.
The house is on the corner of Lodge Avenue and Highfield Road. It is best viewed on foot as there are often parked cars and there is too much to see for a drive-by. There is usually plenty of space to park nearby on Highfield Road.
Northcliffe Avenue
This fabulous display is the only one north of the Henmore to make our top five. Please walk to it - its well worth the effort of leaving your car.....
Don't bring your car! There is no parking and limited turning space. Its a short walk from Dove House Green / North Avenue.
